History Rising is a contemporary visual art programme which takes a wry and engaging look at the subject of museum display.  We’re looking at the assumptions that are made, how things are positioned, who chooses to display them and how the social, political and aesthetic choices that are made in the process dictate the language of display.
We’ve organised a wide-ranging series of events over the next three months including museum installations, symposia, walks, talks, performative lectures on a coach, a cake-making competition and a workshop in a foundry with a blacksmith.  We’re inviting visitors to the website to upload interesting museum displays from across the world.
