Cultures of Memory is a four day long international symposium drawing together research projects, art practices, and public history work engaged in exploring the contemporary dynamics of cultural memory. A collaboration between Massey University, York St John, Syracuse in London and University College London, sessions focus on memory projects concerned with the Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility, the 1988 Lockerbie Bombing, and memory projects around Jewish, GLBTQ, and indigenous identities. Keynote speakers include Professor Kendall Philips and Judah Passow. There will be an afternoon workshop in conjunction with the Guantanamo Public Memory Project.
The Symposium takes place on October 16-18 in London and October 19-20 in York. Full details can be accessed via the Symposium Programme.
