The Mass Observation Project is being celebrated this year in London with a photo exhibition from the archives. Founded in 1937 by the ‘barefoot anthropologist’ Tom Harrisson as well as by the surrealist painter and filmmaker Humphrey Jennings and the writer Charles Madge, this exhibition is compulsory viewing for anyone interested in understanding the history of the ‘anthropology at home’ research genre.
